Dadada-Dan Tenko
The Japanese percussion group Dadada-Dan Tenko, founded in 1987 by the dancer and choreographer Isaya Mondori, makes music that everyone in the world understands. The expressive and energetic musicians alternate between singing, dancing, clowning and percussion work at a rapid pace. The young group members play the taiko with disciplined precision and timing and interpret modern musical acts as well as mythical tales. All of this is presented in traditional costumes, accompanied by an authentic Japanese wind and string instruments against a backdrop of descending cherry blossom. And during this devastating dadada show the audience plays a big role. What is your sense of rhythm like?
